birthday weekend.

i had a nice, long, (mostly) fun-filled weekend for my birthday.
on friday, i gathered the troops and headed out to LA. and like an idiot, i didn't charge my camera before hand and it died about 3 hours after we got there. wah. so i only have a few pictures (sad face), but thankfully tobin came through with hers. but we still only took a handful of pictures that night. it just kind of slipped our minds.
we started off having appetizers on the rooftop of the standard. then off for more appetizers and drinks at the library bar. and ran into this pretty lady and her husband, who were out in LA celebrating their one year anniversary. congratulations! that was a nice little surprise,
next was the edison. it was seriously magical.
we had so much fun and met quite a few interesting people. ate delicious greasy food at 3 am. and came back to our "humungous" room (that's actually the name of the room) and crashed for the night. woke up the next morning and ate yummy breakfast at nickle diner. i'd say the trip was pretty successful and i hope my girls would agree.

on saturday i had a special date with noah. or i tried to, 5 minutes after we got in the car he fell asleep. and since that didn't work out i treated myself to some starbucks and a delightful cake pop. it was seriously yummy.
that night we celebrated marina's birthday by going to medieval times. i hadn't been since high school, and i forgot how much fun it is. since a few or our friends couldn't go we're planning another trip soon.
my family was so cute and they had a late night game night for me after medieval times. my aunts and uncles and cousins. i felt so loved!
and the best part is. i get to celebrate my birthday again this weekend. this time with eric and marina both. i am so looking forward to it.

standard.

It's my birthday tomorrow, yay! and obviously I took the day off today. I wanted to do something special for my day and lately I've been feeling like I really need a little vacay. So...

I'm rounding up three of my best girls: Marina (who's birthday was yesterday, happy birthday to you too!), Tobin, and Erin and in just a few short hour we are heading to LA for the night. I know that it's not really a vacation, but to me it so is. We've got a room at The Standard in downtown LA and we're ready to get away for a night and celebrate. Big time.

Then laze around by the pool tomorrow morning and drink coffee and wander around town before we head back home.

I can't wait for
and
and hopefully
and to be with these beauts

see ya later. and happy weekend!!!

salivating.

I am currently wishing that I had a food processor. It might seem like a weird thing to dream about, but I really want to make my own homemade peanut butter.

Does that not look delicious?

And we don't even have a blender that works in our house. Sad day, because after I would make some peanut butter I would use it for this green smoothie.

I just found both of these blogs the other day. And if you like eating healthy and love eating delicious, or even if you're vegan you should check them out. Edible Perspective and (never home)maker are great. Just looking at these blogs is making me salivary glands work overtime. I'm adding things to my long list going of recipes that are I'm ready to try.

spree.

i went shopping yesterday and got a little crazy. it turned out to be more like a shopping spree. oops. i almost never go shopping for myself though and it was just so much fun. i'm gonna let this be my birthday present for myself. so i guess happy early birthday to me.

i even got these bad boys.
new seychelles!
and i cannot wait to wear them.

now if only i could find a birthday dress. i've feel like i've searched high and low and i can't find anything i like. it's really bumming me out. any suggestions?

preoccupied...

over the past few days I've been seriously preoccupied by my love for tree houses.
I have been obsessing over living in one of these beauties. or even just escaping the world for awhile and spending my time reflecting and reading and soaking in the beauty of all that surrounds it.

on thursday an old friend told me he was going to be staying in one this weekend. i was immediately very jealous and asked him where it was. he told me, but i'm sworn to secrecy. and i'm hoping that one day soon i can go visit this beautiful place too.

I think the obsession started with The Swiss Family Robinson. I mean, how awesome is that tree house? It has multiple levels and rooms, and pretty much anything you could think of.

who wouldn't want to live here?
especially when the leaves start to change in the fall. it must be breathtaking.
or have dinner here?

or camp out here?

or get married here? seriously, this place is unbelievable.

it's friday.

it's only the fourth day, but march is already shaping up to be pretty spectacular.

i have to admit, another reason i love march so much is because it's also my birthday month. and if you don't know me, you'll soon find out that i am a shameless lover of my birthday. i always have been. i love the excuse to have a day all about me, but in reality i usually take a few days.

not only is it my birthday, but it's also two of my very best friends birthdays also. we get to celebrate them together every year and it is the best.

now i'm off to spend my friday night with three of the most wonderful people in this world. one of the best ways i can think of to start off my weekend.

happy friday.

wishing.

So guys, my birthday is coming up very soon...and i would be absolutely delighted if any of you would like to send this little diddy my way.

pretty, pretty please.

xoxo

p.s. i love just about anything with sparkles.

sweet disposition.

please do yourself a massive favor and head on over here and watch the gorgeous video of Jaymee & Kyles wedding.

it was a beautiful affair at the Viceroy in Palm Springs. and can you believe it, she planned the whole thing in less than three months!

it didn't hurt that their videographer, Jamison, was amazing. he was there the whole day, longer than the photographers even, he was so fun and easy to work with, and I just love the way he puts together his videos. if you're looking for someone to do your wedding and you live in southern California, you should seriously check out Lighthouse Studios.

hope that put a smile on your face and brightened your thursday. just think, tomorrow is friday! the weekend is almost here.

dextrous and deft.

Today is Dr. Seuss' birthday. and who doesn't like a little dr. seuss in their life?

when i read this book to my preschoolers, i turned a page and i thought to myself, "hmm, this sure sounds familiar. probably because it's me."

"You can get so confused that you’ll start in to race down long wiggled roads at a break-necking pace and grind on for miles across weirdish wild space, headed, I fear, toward a most useless place.

The Waiting Place…for people just waiting.

Waiting for a train to go or a bus to come, or a plane to go or the mail to come, or the rain to go or the phone to ring, or the snow to snow or waiting around for a Yes or No or waiting for their hair to grow. Everyone is just waiting.

Waiting for the fish to bite or waiting for wind to fly a kite or waiting around for Friday night or waiting, perhaps, for their Uncle Jake or a pot to boil, or a Better Break or a string of pearls, or a pair of pants or a wig with curls, or Another Chance. Everyone is just waiting."

I feel like this. I've felt like this for the last two years. I think most of my friends feel this same way. It's the post-college, mid-20's, what am I doing with my life kind of place. but if you feel this way, do not despair. Dr. Seuss was wise and he knew this wouldn't last forever.

"You’ll get mixed up, of course, as you already know. You’ll get mixed up with many strange birds as you go. So be sure when you step. Step with care and great tact and remember that Life’s a Great Balancing Act. Just never forget to be dexterous and deft. And never mix up your right foot with your left."

So my friends, be encouraged, today is your day. It is time to get on your way!

hello march.

I gladly welcome the month of March.
I love March for many reasons.
one of which is St. Patrick's Day.

I think I might even try to get myself another one of these babies. I've lost my last 3.

So bring it on March.
I'm ready for you.

Happy March to all of you!
xoxo
