hit the books.

Now that it's summer I want to get back into reading again. I love reading, but for the last few months I've barely cracked open a book and that makes me sad. So I'm determined read at least a couple books this summer. First, I must finish Mocking Jay, by Suzanne Collins, which I've had a quarter of the way read since February, oops.

Then these are a few of the next books on my list.
Some I'v already read but want to read again because I love them so much.

1. The Romantics - Galt Niederhoffer 2. Peter Pan - J.M. Barrie 3. The Glass Castle - Jeannette Walls 4. Grapes of Wrath - John Steinbeck (one of my fav authors) 5. The Perks of Being a Wallflower - Stephen Chbosky 6. A Tree Grows in Brooklyn - Betty Smith

Do you have any good book suggestions? I'm always looking for a good read and I would love to hear some of your favorites.

chalk it up.

The other day I mentioned how into chevron I've been lately, well I'm also feeling chalkboard walls too. (Not to mention I came home from the preschool yesterday covered various colors in chalk dust, but it was fun!) I just think they're so fun for an open room in the house, a place where kids can draw or friends can leave you little notes when they come over. I also love the idea of having a chalk headboard or the wall behind your bed (like in 500 days of summer).

I really love this last one.
Do any of you have a chalk wall in your house?

In Remembrance.

Partially inspired by Rachael's post and just because today is Father's Day. This is for my Grandpa Jim, who passed away last Sunday.

a military man,
a little bit of a mad scientist,
a wonderful husband,
father,
grandfather

I will always remember...
*how you and i would spend hours in your workshop (garage) and you taught me about the art of woodworking and how to use all the power tools.
*the times you used to take me out for ice cream, and you would ALWAYS get two scoops of chocolate.
*that i would try to impress you with my knowledge of the states and capitols when you would quiz me.
*how we would watch Murder She Wrote and then look up the words/things I didn't understand in the giant dictionary with a magnifying glass.

(this is from Father's day probably about 15 years ago, that's little me on the bottom left)

We are thinking of you fondly on this Father's Day.
We love you and miss you and will always remember you with happy memories.

chevron.

Right now I'm totally digging everything chevron.

(ombre and chevron *swoon*)

I'm dying to paint a wall in my house chevron. Or maybe even a dresser. I just love this look. Maybe I'll get around to it sometime this summer.

Oh, and today is this little guys 5th birthday!
We're gonna celebrate, army style. Now I just have to find some camo to wear...?
