le weekend...a little late

i know it's late, but better late than never right,

this is what my weekend looked like:

  • got asked to help out with designing a small diy wedding. so excited! i'll be giving updates as I go.
  • friday night was game night with the cousins. we played a new game, Smart Ass and an old favorite Taboo. It was super fun to hang out with my cousins for the night. It had been way too long. See, I come from a very large extended family with 22 cousins (it's even bigger now that lots are married and have kids). And we see each other pretty often, I would even say that some of them are like sisters to me.
  • a nice long saturday workout. i felt so good and refreshed, and tired afterward.
  • sat down to finally finish this pinwheel order for a wedding coming up this summer. i really love how it turned out. she wanted lots of very bright colors, it was fun color palette to work with.
and i think this might be one of my most fave pinwheels so far, if not my most favorite.
and look how cute the back is: pink with little green teakettles!

  • had a special girl date with erin! we got coffee and saw Blue Valentine. My verdict is still out on this movie. I liked it, but it was so heavy and a lot to process in such a short time.
but looking at michelle williams and ryan gosling for two hours,
definitely a plus in my book
(via)
  • super bowl sunday party at the mcneely's! (like most everyone else in America) to be honest, I hadn't watched a single NFL game this season, and i didn't watch that much of the actual game on sunday either. and i stayed way too late, because we played our own game, of cranium, after. and of course, tobin, erin, and i whooped the boys.

30 day update: so far I've been pretty faithful to my diet/exercise program. I haven't eaten the exact meals on the day, but i've stayed within calories and just had leftovers from other meals because of time (and a little cause of money). i've also been doing my work outs and adding cardio. It's now day 9 and i don't feel any different yet, well i feel a little healthier but not any smaller...i'm hoping i'll start to see/feel it soon and that will give me some motivation to stick with it for the rest of the time.

tuesday treasures.

my polaroid 600 camera!

I know it may sound cheesy that I treasure my polaroid camera, but I seriously love that thing. The pictures it takes are my favorite, the way the colors are faded and they have little imperfections. Plus they're instant, can't get much better than that. It's the neatest! I'm so sad that they don't really make film anymore, or at least I can't find any that it remotely affordable. I know have a fujifilm instax, that I've named "the tugboat" for it's giant size, but it's just not the same.

(this might be my favorite picture of the 5 of us. me, jamie, tobin, allie, erin.
the first rewombion, summer "08)

At the Womb there were polaroids everywhere. It was one of our fave things, to get all 5 of us together in an awesome polaroid picture.

(polaroid wall in the womb)

1) no more melancholy 2) Hogwarts! 3) womb nation 4) dancing in a ceiling-less room 5) shawn & james jam sesh 6) we think we're cool because we're holding polaroids of ourselves 7) shawn/bob dylan 8) mustache party 9) baby noah peace sign 10) bestiefest '07 11) the lost weekend 12) my favorite ukrainian boys 13) shawn checkin out allie's booty 14) i am the walrus 15) what's under there? it's a secret... 16) mermaid beach 17) downtown danville breakfast 18) touch my body & donut man 19) tobin's dream come true 20) ain't no party like a womb party 21) family portrait 22) womb night out 23) pretty nails 24) don't mind the crown 25) on the drive

gettin mail and workin it out!

As I said the other day, I love to get things in the mail. And a few days ago I got a package
My gold chevron earrings from Moorea Seal came! I absolutely love them. I've already worn them once, and plan to wear them again this weekend. (I would've probably worn them everyday, except I work at a preschool, so I don't like to wear earrings that hang because the babies tend to grab them, ouch!)

You should seriously check out her etsy shop. It's really simple pieces, yet super stylish. I love all of it. And I wish that my budget would've allowed me to buy a few more things. Guess I'll just have to wait and save a few pennies here and there.

Now I just have to wait for my mini heartlette sparkler to come from Giant Dwarf.

In other news...on the 1st I started a 30-day diet and exercise plan. It's only day 3 and let me just say, my body is aching! But at the same time it feels really good to know that I'm getting my healthy back on. (I lost it for awhile, from around Thanksgiving, til the end of January). Over the last few months I've been really stressed out and on a roller coaster of emotions, and when that happens I tend to eat, a lot. Oops. I wish that when I was upset or stressed that I would desire to go running, not crave fast food. Well, now I'm trying to change that, so good for me. I really want to do all 30 days, so I'm gonna try my very best to follow through, but I'm gonna need some encouragement especially after a week or two. And on valentine's day! eeek, what was I thinking? Maybe this year I won't eat all the candy that I get from my preschoolers. Here's to hoping.

tuesday treasures.

About 2 or 3 weeks ago, I did a treasure post about one of my favorite little trinkets. And I've decided to make it a weekly post, so now every week I'll have a "tuesday treasures!"

This Tuesday I have a new special item to share with you...

matryoshkas!
or russian nesting dolls as most of you probably know them by.

I don't know why, I just really love these. I have since I was a little girl.
And these are just a few of my favorites...

(the gorgeous green one is from Vietnam. given to me by the lovely Erin from her travels abroad. i love the detail on this one!)

(the beautiful blue one is all the way from Russia with love. I was so excited to get this one. when my friend shaun studied abroad in eastern europe, he went to russia for a few weeks and brought it back for me)

(needles to say, I love the beatles. and i got this set of nesting dolls on my first trip to
new york. close to strawberry fields)

(it sits on my shelf with all my books and other little trinkets)

(it even has a teeny, tiny beetle. it's kind of my favorite thing about it)

Oh, and happy february.
