A Desert Dream Wedding.

I'm back from the Sprizzle. This weekend was so much fun. The wedding was at the Viceroy in Palm Springs, it was such a cool venue. The weather was perfect. The bride looked gorgeous. The groom was dapper. The guests had an amazing time. And everyone danced the night away. But most importantly the bride and groom had fun, and it was Jaymees' dream wedding!

Even though the hours of sleep I obtained this weekend were very minimal, it was all worth it. I had such a blast. I got to see old friends, meet new friends, and be with some of my best friends. It was so much fun to be able to see the glowing couple this morning before they left on their mini-honeymoon and share all our favorite parts of the day.

Jaymee and Kyle, I wish you all the happiness in the world. I know that you two were made for each other and I can't wait to see where your new life together leads you. In 50 years from now I know that Kyle will still be singing new renditions of "I love you gurl!" We all love you so much.

Desert.

Yesterday I finally finished my book, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest, by Stiegg Larsson. It was great, I'm a little sad to be finished with the trilogy. Although I do hear a little rumor that there will be a fourth one coming out sometime in the future.

On another note, in a few short hours I'll be road tripping to Palm Springs for the weekend. Me and my girlfriends are going out for one of our high school best's wedding. Jaymee and Kyle met the summer after we graduated and are finally getting married tomorrow! I can't believe it. Us girls are going out today to spend some extra time by the pool, the heat, and hopefully some extra time with the bride.

Jaymee & KyKy

This weekend is gonna be so much fun, finally getting to see Jaymee and Kyle tie the knot. And Palm Sprizzle reminds me of all of my high school besties, we like to go on little weekend getaways there. Hope you all have a great weekend too. I'll be back on Monday.

Pumpkin Patch

On Tuesday we started a new tradition. We all went to the pumpkin patch and searched for our favorites. We almost missed out because we got there right as they were closing, but the man was super nice and let us in. Oh ya, the pumpkin patch was also a Christmas tree farm, we basically walked through a forrest to get our pumpkins, but I didn't mind.

We made it through the forrest.

The Boys

& The Girls

The Brothers Proffitt working hard (probably too hard) on their ingenious pumpkins.

Me and my Hello Kitty pumpkin. I love Hello Kitty.

Admiring our handiwork.

That's right you're looking at Munch's The Scream, a socially minded peace-face, a mustache (or more popularly known as two whales kissing, scary monster eating it's baby, the scariest haunted mansion ever, Hello Kitty, and Sherlock Holmes.

The night was so much fun. Just the first of many new traditions that are coming, and I can't wait to make more.

There aren't enough hours in a day.

Seriously, there are not enough hours in each day. That is how I've been feeling for about the last week now. I feel like its so hard to get all the things I want to done every day, and I don't know why this is. I only work part-time. Maybe I've been spending too much time crafting...but I certainly don't want to cut down my craft time, I love my crafting time. Or maybe I'm just being a little lazy, I do that sometimes. Well today, I actually did get a few things done and crossed off my list. One of those things was blogging, another was going for a run, and I actually cleaned my room today, well I started to but I made significant progress. My room was seriously a disaster area.

So I have a few pictures of my garlands (they didn't come out that great though) that I promised I would post the other day.

I also did a little baking yesterday. My first fall-themed baking of the year. I love when its fall and I can make all kinds of pumpkin goodies! I love making pumpkin pie from scratch and decorating the pie crusts with little leaves and acorns. I made some delicious pumpkin cookies for a little fall gathering we had last night.

I'm still crossing my fingers that I'll be able to get together with Marisa sometime in the next week. One, so I can finally hear about her engagement and wedding plans. And two, so she can help me make my blog and etsy shop look a little more pretty.

Come back tomorrow for some festive fall pumpkins!

all things go.

Today I was/am so unbelievably tired. I'm glad that I don't have to work tomorrow morning and that I get to sleep in, well at least for a little while. But it was so worth it. Last night I went and saw Sufjan Stevens with some of my best friends. It was so incredible. This was mine and Eric's wedding gift to Erin and Chad, I'd like to think that we got them the best gift ever but I'm a little biased. He played mostly songs from his new album which I wasn't too familiar with, but I loved it all the same. I would definitely recommend going to see him if you ever get the chance. I have some pictures, they're not that great but I'm putting them up anyway because I'm still on a high from the show.

I'm working on a few new little things. Hopefully I'll finish a couple tonight and post them tomorrow and put some up in the etsy shop! I really need to get some rest so I can do all of these things that I keep telling myself (and you) that I'm going to do. Hopefully after this weekend life will calm down a little.

Saturday.

This morning I had to get up at 6:30. Now I don't completely hate mornings or anything, but getting up that early on my Saturday is not okay with me. Saturdays are for sleeping in. Or if you are getting up early, for doing something fun, that you really want to do. Not for giving your little cousin a ride to her track meet then going to a CPR/First Aid class all day. Woo hoo! I was dreading going to this class today but I had to for work (I work at a preschool). Although it didn't turn out to be too horrible. The people in my class were fun and we were all making jokes and laughing with each other. But don't worry we did also learn how to do CPR, which I basically already knew. And we got out early! That was the best part by far. Now I have to go back tomorrow for Health and Safety class, at least it won't be all day.

I was supposed to go to Oktoberfest tonight with Heather, but the poor girl has the flu. So we both stayed home instead, I was dead tired anyway from getting up that early after going out last night. What I did instead was work more on my little leafies! I cut out more felt and made 1 1 1/2 more garlands! (Pictures to come soon.) I'm thinking of maybe putting some up on my esty shop, but I just think that they're so cute I want to give them away to my friends to put in their houses. I guess we'll have to see how many I end up making. Speaking of the etsy shop that is on the to do list for this coming week. I really, really need to work on it and figure out a few more things. Until then I'm a little hesitant to put up the rest of my items. Wish me luck!

Oh ya, tomorrow I'm going to see Sufjan Stevens with my best friends. You should be jealous.

ugh!

This whole etsy shop thing is harder than I thought. I guess I just never really thought about what goes into it. Well, I made one today. Yay! But it took me forever and still looks a little sad and I haven't listed that many items yet. Take a look! I still need to read up on a lot of stuff for it, like shipping and things like that. Also, I am going to get a little help from my lovely friend Marisa. She's going to help me spruce up my shop and my blog! I can't wait.

It's finally Fall!

Since it's actually starting to feel like Fall here, the other night I finally started to put together my little felt leaves. I was inspired by this. But I wanted to use a lot more fall colors in mine, and well just a lot more colors. Cutting out all the little pieces was pretty time consuming, but I did it when I was watching a movie so it didn't seem quite as long.

Once I had cut out some from all the different color felt I wanted to use, I laid them out on the table and started matching bigger leaves with smaller leaves.

Then I just strung them together with a needle and some dmc floss.

All the while I had a little friend keeping me company.

He's just the cutest thing ever (most of the time). He sat down next to me on the couch and said he wanted to be like his Auntie Amy and put his fake glasses on. Then we watched Charlie Brown and Ice Age. We had so much fun laughing and playing.

I loved that he kept me company while I was doing my project. At the end of the night I had a nice little leaf garland that was about 7 feet long. It turned out really cute and I can put it just about anywhere to make it look a little more festive. And I can leave it up til Thanksgiving!

And I still have more leaves and felt left over so I'm gonna make more. Can't wait!

waves.

I absolutely loved making this blanket. I loved the colors. I loved the little waves. I just sent it off last week to Oregon as a little wedding present for Rachael and Noah. The pattern was actually a lot easier than I thought it was going to be. Once I got used to it, it made for some pretty fast rows of waves. Although I still sent it out to them about two months after their actual wedding.

I hope they like it as much as I liked making it.

Last night I finally started to put together my fall leaf garland. I have pictures of that to post soon, along with some of my favorite nephew. We watched A Charlie Brown Christmas tonight. I know it's a little early for Christmas, but he wanted to watch Charlie Brown and thats the only one we had. Now I'm off to spend the morning with Erin and catch up on her newly married life.

sickie.

I've been sick all weekend. Although I did get a good day in Friday before I started feeling sick. And I don't want to feel sick anymore because I'm supposed to go see Jonsi tonight. So here's to hoping.

Friday, October 15, 2010

it's finally friday!

I'm off for the weekend! Heading up to the zu to see friends I haven't seen in sooo long. Then tomorrow it's an all day bridal shower/bachelorette party for Miss Jaymee. She's getting married to Kyle on the 30th. So soon! It's going to be lovely lovely wedding.

Next week I'll post pictures of my newly finished blanket. I love it so much. I wish it was for me, but I made it for a friend.

more leaves.

I cut more leaves out. Now I have lots of leaves in lots of colors. I'm going to start putting it together tonight and see if I need to cut out anymore. I was going to try and start it today, but I haven't been feeling that well. No matter what I do lately, I'm always so tired. Everyday. It doesn't matter how much sleep I get or how much coffee I drink, I'm just always tired. Although I do need to get myself on a better sleeping pattern, I've been staying up way too late when I don't have to get up early the next morning.
A little sneak peek of all the leaves. Sorry the color is so horrible.

checking things off.

Today was a good day, despite that I had to work at 7:30 this morning. I feel like I got a lot accomplished, well kind of, but I did get to cross a lot of things off my list. After work I went and bought more felt in pretty fall colors so I can finish my leaf garland.

Then I came home and finally sent out a package to my dear friends Noah and Rachael, who got married in August.

Went to the Apple store and bought an new iPod shuffle! I had my old one for four years and it finally went dead on me. I'm not sure why, but I really liked the orange one, so I got that one. Good news is that now I can have music again when I run. Bad news is I have to upload ALL my music onto my computer again because when it got fixed last month they took everything off and I haven't put any of it back on yet, I hate doing it.

Since I finished my book, The Girl Who Played With Fire, on Saturday I've been dying to start the next one, The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest, by Stieg Larsson. So I borrowed it from my aunt today when I went to watch my cousin. I'm so excited that I didn't have to pay to buy the hardback, the paperback isn't out yet :(

Now I'm gonna spend the rest of my night cutting out more little leaves like these! And maybe read some more of my book.

Pictures of my completed blanket to come soon.

weekend update.

I've been pretty productive in the crafting department so far this weekend. I'm able to cross off reading my book and finishing my blanket and I'm halfway done with my fall leaf garland. There are still a few more colors that I want to put in the garland, so I have to go searching for some more felt. It's kind of hard to find pretty colors of felt sometime. I think putting the fall wreath on the list was a little too ambitious, maybe I'll put that on the list for sometime this week, along with going to buy my next book to read, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest, by Steig Larsson.

here's a little sneak peek of the leaves I made:

weekend.

My weekend to do's:
-Finish reading my book, which I plan on doing immediately after I post this. It's just so good I can barely put it down.
-Finish crocheting the blanket I've been working on. It's almost done, I'm so close to the end.
-Make some cute little fall leaf decorations.
- (edit) Okay, let's add fall wreath to this list too.

Those are just a few things I want to accomplish this weekend among other things. I still have errands to do, like getting a present for another bridal shower. And as much as I would like to accomplish all three of those things this weekend, I'm just not sure that I will. They all take a lot of time, plus I might just get lazy and want to do nothing, I do that sometimes, actually I do that a lot of times. If I do them there will be pictures to come of my crafty projects.

Travel Bug.

I've got a major travel bug right now. I can't stop thinking and planning all these trips in my head. Only problem is I don't have the funds to go all these places right now. I guess it's time to start saving. I'm eyeing my piggy bank as I type and wondering exactly just how much is already in there and how much I can find to add to it. Hmmm....maybe I need to get a second job. Either way, I'm gonna make it happen, the real question is when.

Here are some of my top destinations at the moment:

Spain

Machu Pichu, Peru

And this one isn't too far behind.

Greece

Plans for all of these trips have been talked about recently which makes me want to go even more. And I think it just might be possible for me to accomplish all 3 of them in the next year and a half. I guess we'll see.

xoxo

rainy days.

So, I'm thinking of starting an etsy shop. I have a couple little creations that I can sell, like my little pinwheels. But I'm wondering if I should have more little things on there. Give me your thoughts and suggestions please...

On another note...I'm sitting on the couch with my cozy granny square blanket, drinking coffee, and catching up on all the shows I missed while I was gone, mostly Grey's. It's so nice to not have anything to do for once and to just relax. I was so sleep deprived last night I felt physically sick, it reminded me a little bit of my last year of college when I used to average about four hours of sleep a night. I don't know if I could live those four years over. I am LOVING this rain. Hopefully pretty soon I can dig out my rainboots from the back of my closet, get pumpkins for the porch, and stomp around on all the fallen leaves. I can't wait for the real fall weather (well I live in So Cal so it's not really a real fall) to come and stay. I guess I just might have to make a trip up to Oregon sometime in the next month or two.

life goes on...

i'm back home. again. for a while i think. maybe not. hopefully not. but for now i'm exhausted. my trip to the caribbean was wonderful. a great mix of relaxation with a little bit of adventure thrown in there. i wasn't even home for 12 hours before i had to work again. and i have a full next couple days. picking up my best friend from the airport tonight. can't wait to see her. another wedding in san diego tomorrow. (yes, that will make the wedding attendance count 7 so far this year. and soon to be 8, i'm in another wedding at the end of this month.) i feel like i was gone for so long. so much has been happening. another good friend of mine got engaged. congratulations marisa! it feels like i'm quickly becoming the only single girl left. what're gonna do?
